Mamba day video diary by spinotron
I was lucky enough to attend Kobe's farewell game. One picture is worth thousand words, but what about videos? I will try to organize some of videos I captured and share here for Kobe fans and basketball fans alike.
1. Starting off with Kobe's last entering staples as a player. Time of my life hobbywise!
1. Starting off with Kobe's last entering staples as a player. Time of my life hobbywise!
2. The world best IMAX is clearly at Staples. Coolest introduction format by miles. It features Kobe's first entering Staples as a Laker, and his presicent words, ... 20 at least. At that time, I'm pretty sure the broadcaster thought you dreaming kid, Kobe must think for real. 15 secs restriction is a constraint to work with, so far so good.
3. After Magic's touching and iconic intro, Kobe waved the crowd before the game. Sorry for the shaky video, excitement plus holding my daughter at the other arm, after all I'm not ambidextrous as Kobe's handle.
4. Kobe's final tip-off. The start of a timeless night. Kobe salutes the opponents and stands right across where I stand. Nice seat indeed. But just wait until the second half to tell me about it. Diehard fan thinking.
5. After the awesome chart featuring Kobe's all shots, some one posted an empty chart for his pass chart. Well, here is a video evidence for his assist on a night he rarely passes. LOL.
6. As a fan, I enjoyed most of the game with my eyes. As a father, I was holding a sleeping daughter (jetlagged, but probably the only one sleeping) with both hands. Later into the game, this is my first video of capturing a Kobe shot. He made my jobs easier afterwards, as he almost didn't miss in his 23-point quarter. Where was my daughter at this moment? My mum was also there.
7. Kobe's lovely family's message to Kobe. As Kobe said, Vanessa holds the family together while Kobe works on his crafts. His daughters grow more beautiful. (Wish Kobe had a son.) If being workaholic but having no family, one misses a whole lot. Glad Kobe was able to bring his family during his farewell tour. Kobe's daughters said Wow dad, Kobe said I did that pretty often in the past, they said Really, Kobe said Just youtube it!
8. You can tell there is a hardcore fan in front of me. With a bit more than 2 mins, Kobe slightly under 50 and losing by 9. At this point, the game seems less hopeful but I was very anxious for him to reach 50. This is within the last god-like 3:05 minute performance when Kobe shots 5/5 on the field and 4/4 in FT. I honestly think basketball god is rewarding Kobe's work ethic and dedication to the game of basketball. His first free throw of the two.
9. With this shot, Kobe finally got over 50, reached 51. Was too excited and cut the video short somehow.
10. Kobe pulled them within four while staples was going frenzy.
11. Within one, just by this clutch three.
12. Overcome the deficit just like that. People were overwhelmed with excitement and emotions. This is the turning point.
13. After this crazy stretch, Kobe made his first free throw. At this point, I realized Kobe is almost 60, one point short to be exact.
14. Kobe's last shot as a Laker. He began his prolific scoring by a free throw, and ended it with a three throw. I saw people say Hayward intentionally to step into the line out of respect of Kobe, so that if Kobe misses, he could have another shot at 60 exact. Don't know anything truth to that, but if true, Hayward is very classy and Kobe didn't need this charity with a nothing but net.
15. Who would have known Kobe ended his career with an assist? Kobe could have chosen 62, but this is an easier way to seal the win and 60 is more perfect. Clarkson knows how to celebrate. I wasn't watching my phone clearly, but got things more or less captured.
16. Kobe checked out of the game after the greatest walkoff performance. It's a tear jerking moment. So happy to be able to see him off in person.
17. No, Kobe, there is no way we can thank you enough for that. He ended the mic dropping moment with an iconic phrase "mamba out".
18. Kobe walked into the tunnel, he likes to pursue story telling next, and that's how to finish off his storybook ending of his 20-year Lakers career. There is another routine waiting for him. One thing I'm sure Kobe won't look like those fat*** retired players. That would be all. This is more for myself to enjoy in the future to have those 15s videos handy. But if you also enjoy it as a Kobe fan or a general fan of the game of basketball, I'm glad. Now, spinotron, back to collecting and life. (Wonder what's that nice background music? LOL)
Until next time, so long!
